2014 FLORIDA GOVERNORS RACE



Richard Lynn "Rick" Scott became The 45th Governor of Florida on January 4, 2011. Scott was a partner with George W. Bush as co-owner of The Texas Rangers. Scott is the former Chairman & CEO  of  Columbia/HCA  Health Care Corporation. Columbia/HCA  offered doctors "incentives" Federal investigators determined to be "kick-backs". Columbia/HCA pled guilty to 14 felonies and agreed to a $600+ million fine in the largest fraud settlement in U.S. history. Meanwhile, Scott began his political career as a "Tea" Party backed anti- "Obamacare" crusader. Richard L. Scott Investments has a stake in health care. Rick Scott owns Solantic urgent care center facilities all over Florida. Scott is invested in Pharmaca Integrative Pharmacieswhich operates drugstores/pharmacies that offer vitamins, herbal medicine, skin products, homeopathic medicines, and prescriptions. Scott signed a bill requiring those seeking 'welfare' under The Federal Temporary Assistance for Needy Families program to submit to drug screenings to be conducted by his own medical labs.The U.S. Supreme Court rejected Florida Gov. Rick Scott's petition to review a ruling that his random drug testing policy was unconstitutional. Scott announced as early as 2011 he'd be running for re- election as a Republican. 

The Republican Candidate Rick Scott is being opposed by The Democratic Candidate Charles Joseph "CharlieCrist, Jr. Crist was The Governor of Florida from 2007 - 2011. Crist also served as The Attorney General in Florida. Crist supported President Obama's fiscal policies amid criticism. Crist is an environmental advocate who upsets "Big Sugar" corporate interests in the state. Crist supports strict air pollution standards and aims to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Crist supports the proposal to allow Medical Marijuana in the state of Florida. Rick Scott opposes it.
